What is this game?
Memoriapolis is a city-building game in which you have to manage resources, define your city's politics, build a stable and dynamic economy, pass decrees, open trade routes, manage your dynasty and decide how your city will approach the next age.
There you go. That's new!
Your city will have to be able to cross the ages from Antiquity to the Great Century. Going through an age means deciding on the future of your buildings and, more generally, your whole city.
What will become of your temple of Apollo in the midst of the advent of Christianity? A church? A ruin? And your city in the Middle Ages, will it be built in the footsteps of the ancient city or further away, forming new districts?
What memory of your town's history would you like to preserve?
And you're not alone.
Each building you place in the game belongs to a cultural family. A barracks has a military culture, a temple a religious culture, a market a commercial culture. Their culture has an impact on the surrounding neighbourhoods. The neighbourhood near a barracks will be home to soldiers who will end up forming a faction to claim their rights and ask you to meet their expectations.
Should you respond or build a gigantic temple nearby, which will bring religious figures into the district and destabilise the military faction?
We've got a few months to look at all this in more detail together and present concrete examples of what you'll have to do when you play Memoriapolis.
